About High Desert Counseling
High Desert Counseling is an outpatient rehabilitation center dedicated to treating substance use disorders in both men and women. It provides multiple evidence-based services, such as day treatment, intensive outpatient programs (IOP), and traditional outpatient care. The program is designed to deliver structured, concentrated support while helping clients remain independent and continue meeting everyday responsibilities. Care plans are holistic and may include individual dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), group therapy, psychoeducational sessions, family therapy, and relapse prevention techniques, customized to fit each person’s specific needs.
The day treatment program includes individual counseling, group counseling, and medication management four days a week for five hours per day. The intensive outpatient option consists of group therapy plus one individual counseling session, totaling nine hours per week, and typically runs for 12 to 16 weeks, allowing participants to stay engaged in work and other commitments. General outpatient services are offered as either a direct admission program or as a step-down following more intensive treatment. Clients also receive recovery coaching, peer support, and ongoing clinical services to address substance use as well as any co-occurring mental health concerns. High Desert Counseling works with many insurance plans, including Selecthealth, Health Choice Utah, Medicaid, Aetna, University of Utah Health Plans, Molina, PEHP, United Healthcare, and Blue Cross Blue Shield, and it uses a sliding fee scale for individuals with limited financial resources. Services are available in St. George and Cedar Center, Utah.
