About White Deer Run
White Deer Run New Perspectives offers treatment for substance use disorders and related mental health challenges through medically supervised detox, residential services, and outpatient programming. People in recovery can move smoothly between different levels of care and then step back into independent living. The center combines group programming, family therapy, and weekly one-on-one counseling to help clients build practical coping strategies and work toward the underlying drivers of addiction.
White Deer Run New Perspectives relies on proven, evidence-based approaches to support both addiction and co-occurring conditions. The treatment model includes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, rational emotive behavioral therapy (REBT), and trauma-informed care. Clients may also engage with 12-Step principles and participate in peer recovery meetings. In addition to foundational groups, the program features twice-weekly gender-specific sessions, relapse prevention groups, community meetings, and transition groups. On average, clients attend about 3–5 groups each week, or up to 8 groups weekly when participating in dual-diagnosis treatment. Family members can join weekly family therapy sessions as well.
Treatment begins with a psychiatric evaluation to determine whether medication management and/or medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is appropriate. During detox, a coordinated clinical team oversees the process, including psychiatrists, nurses, masters-level therapists and counselors, and social workers. Together, they tailor services to each person’s specific needs and recovery plan. Treatment also addresses co-occurring conditions such as depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
White Deer Run New Perspectives provides multiple outpatient options, including day treatment (partial hospitalization), an intensive outpatient program (IOP), and general outpatient/aftercare. Day treatment includes 6 hours of care each day, 4 days per week, along with ongoing one-on-one counseling twice weekly and psychiatrist check-ins twice per month when needed. The IOP includes 3 days of programming per week, 3 hours per day. Evening and daytime schedules are available to improve flexibility. For general outpatient services, therapy typically occurs once or twice each week. White Deer Run New Perspectives participates in the VA Community Care Network.
