About Children's Home of York RISE Program

The RISE Program provides a closely monitored residential environment for young people ages 16 to 21 who have struggled in earlier living situations. Also referred to as Reaching Independence through Support and Experience, it is one of Children’s Home of York’s three residential programs. RISE supports youth in developing essential life skills, strengthening independence, and preparing either for adulthood or for a safe return home by combining independent living supports with transitional housing components.

Based on the Sanctuary model, the program starts with a Casey Life Skills Assessment to inform individualized plans. Youth work alongside staff and local partner providers to identify goals and make progress toward them. With consistent daily structure, practical skill-building opportunities, and access to treatment and prevention services, residents develop the stability and confidence needed to succeed over the long term.

Participants live in a small, residential-style group home with 2:1 staff supervision. They work through privilege levels, practice everyday tasks such as cooking and cleaning, and learn how to organize and manage their routines. While the setting is structured, it remains supportive, reflecting the transition-housing approach while offering a higher level of care that helps young adults grow into capable and self-reliant individuals.
