The Bridge Way School is Philadelphia’s first and only recovery high school. Approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, it supports students in grades 9–12 who are rebuilding their lives through recovery from substance use alongside co-occurring mental health conditions. As part of the Association of Recovery Schools, the program pairs rigorous academics with the guidance and services students need to move forward in both school and recovery, with no tuition cost. The Bridge Way School delivers a full academic experience built around student-focused, inquiry-driven instruction. Alongside classroom learning, students take part in daily group sessions facilitated by peer specialists or licensed clinical professionals. These meetings address recovery-relevant themes such as managing triggers and using practical tools to sustain sobriety. The school also provides support with college and career planning so students are ready for what comes after graduation. Designed for teenagers who are serious about their recovery, The Bridge Way School enrolls students who are actively engaged in a recovery program and able to maintain abstinence. The school keeps a low teacher-to-student ratio and enrolls roughly 20–30 students each year, helping ensure consistent, individualized attention. With rolling admissions, students may start at any point during the school year, offering flexibility to meet their specific educational and recovery needs.
