Healing Wings is a sober living residence in South Africa that provides the structure and support required to sustain long-term recovery. St George’s Halfway House and reintegration home was established in November 2016 by Jody and Bronwyn Van Jaarsveldt. Both founders have ten and eleven years of sobriety, and they created the home to assist people who have finished their stay at a Primary Rehab centre and are now facing one of the most challenging phases of the journey into Sober-Living. Drawing on their own lived experience, as well as their work as counsellors, they oversee every part of the reintegration program.
Upon arrival at Healing Wings, residents complete an I.R.P. (individualized reintegration plan) assessment. After that, the staff shapes a treatment approach based on each person’s specific needs and goals. The program includes 12-Step facilitation, weekly individual counselling sessions, and group therapy. Day-to-day life at the home is also built around responsibility and personal growth, including household chores and educational sessions on topics such as forgiveness and codependency. Residents may further participate in guest talks, health and fitness activities, community initiatives, and volunteering opportunities with different charities. Those without work are supported and encouraged to secure employment, with guidance from the team.
Healing Wings St. Georges is located in a calm residential area in Johannesburg, South Africa. The well-appointed property is designed for residents’ comfort, featuring modern décor, cozy furnishings, and a fully equipped kitchen. Meals are prepared by an on-site chef, while laundry services may be arranged for an additional fee. The home also offers an on-site gym and a spacious outdoor pool. Healing Wings has supported hundreds of individuals as they rebuild their lives in recovery.
Also confirm the facility is licensed by Pennsylvania. If you are withdrawing from alcohol or benzodiazepines, ask about medical detox; do not stop suddenly on your own.
Healing Wings did not report which payment types it accepts. If you have Medicaid, ask whether the facility accepts your Pennsylvania Medicaid plan or can refer you to one that does. Most private plans must cover substance use treatment on terms comparable to other medical care under federal parity law.
