About Cherrywood House

Located in a peaceful, semi-rural setting on the outskirts of Cape Town, Cherrywood House helps clients address substance use by merging dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) with a clear emphasis on physical well-being. Throughout the programme, clients learn to replace harmful routines and thought processes with healthier coping strategies, while building mindfulness and strengthening communication skills in everyday relationships. Cherrywood House provides a variety of evidence-based approaches, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, 12 Step meetings, and structured group sessions.

Cherrywood House is designed around individualized, full-spectrum support, caring for no more than 18 residential clients at a time so that each person receives focused guidance. The structured, evidence-informed programme treats substance use while also targeting frequently co-occurring issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, eating disorders, and behavioral addictions. Clients also have access to high-quality facilities at a more affordable rate than many treatment centres internationally. For sustained recovery, each client is given a 12-month online aftercare programme, plus a 6-month online family support service that starts during the time their loved one is still receiving treatment.

Set on a boutique, homely campus, clients can make use of comfortable, upscale amenities such as a swimming pool, landscaped garden spaces, outdoor lounge areas, and shared rooms that balance comfort with privacy. The accommodation is spread across several buildings to support a calm environment. During their stay, clients may take part in holistic activities including yoga, meditation, and guided fitness sessions. They also receive meals prepared by a chef using a menu approved by a nutritionist.
