Carlisle House is a residential rehabilitation center for people with substance use issues, situated close to central Belfast. It delivers a 34-day therapeutic treatment programme in partnership with the Belfast and Northern Health and Social Care Trusts.
Carlisle House is designed to assist individuals throughout their recovery journey. The centre creates tailored care plans based on each person’s requirements and works with local Community Addiction Teams to arrange detox support when it is needed. Every resident is supported by a Link Worker, who helps them navigate the programme from start to finish. A broad range of therapeutic options is available, including one-to-one and group counselling, as well as expressive activities such as art and music therapy. The holistic model also incorporates eco-therapy, family therapy, and additional structured programmes covering areas like filmmaking and nutrition.
After treatment, Carlisle House provides an aftercare package to help people settle back in and continue building on the progress made. This includes a weekly RECONNECT group, up to 12 individual and family therapy sessions, and fitness-oriented activities such as spin classes. The aim is to support sustained recovery in a safe, encouraging setting.
Meals are provided as part of the programme, with lunch and dinner included and a strong emphasis on healthy eating. Breakfast and supper are prepared independently, and vegetarian choices are available.
Visitors are permitted during set visiting periods, with a maximum of two visits per week. During the first seven days, visiting is limited, and there are options to arrange visits for children or clergy where appropriate.
Residents must remain on site and cannot leave the Centre unless there is an approved appointment. Drug and alcohol tests are carried out when individuals return.
Also confirm the facility is licensed by New Jersey. If you are withdrawing from alcohol or benzodiazepines, ask about medical detox; do not stop suddenly on your own.
Carlisle House did not report which payment types it accepts. If you have Medicaid, ask whether the facility accepts your New Jersey Medicaid plan or can refer you to one that does. Most private plans must cover substance use treatment on terms comparable to other medical care under federal parity law.
