About Samaritan Inns Inc

Samaritan Inns’ services are created for adults seeking to build a stable life without homelessness and addiction. The center is a Medicaid-approved provider, and its programs are certified by the DC Department of Behavioral Health. Samaritan Inns organizes its treatment approach into three separate stages. The first stage is an intensive, short-term residential program for single adult men and women between the ages of 21 and 65. During this phase, residents learn the principles and practices of the 12-Step model used by Alcoholics/Narcotics Anonymous. They also take part in individual and group counseling, along with case management. Residents must complete at least 25 hours of weekly counseling as part of Phase 1.

After completing Phase 1, participants may move into the Phase 2 program for men or women. This stage emphasizes returning to community life and includes all elements of Phase 1. In Phase 2, residents are required to complete a minimum of 5 hours of counseling each week and receive support such as access to a case manager and GED tutoring, along with other related resources.

Phase 3 provides long-term recovery in an affordable, sober housing community. People who have completed Phases 1 and 2, or who have finished an equivalent program with another provider, may qualify. Eligibility also requires a stable income, medical and mental health clearance, and at least six months of sobriety. The program includes private rooms as well as shared living and dining areas, and provides ongoing recovery support. Length of stay typically ranges from 6 months up to 2 years.

In addition, Samaritan Inns runs a program specifically for women with children. This option offers a safe residential setting for mothers and pregnant women who are working to recover from addiction. Women may bring up to two dependent children aged 0 to 10, and women involved in family reunification through the court system can also participate. Children who are school-aged are expected to attend the public school district closest to the facility, while children who are not yet school-aged must use the OSSE-certified childcare development center on-site. The program is designed to support long-term independence through weekly groups, 12-Step meetings, individual counseling, and parenting education. It also includes case management, GED tutoring, help preparing for employment, job training, and opportunities for spiritual development.
