Center for Discovery’s Fairfield location, situated along the Long Island Sound in Connecticut, is an acute care facility for eating disorder treatment, providing the most intensive residential level of support. The program is designed for women and non-binary adults age 18 and older who are dealing with eating disorders. Since the center opened, Fairfield’s program director has been part of the organization and plays an essential role in each client’s care, serving as a strong advocate for a comprehensive, high-quality standard of treatment.
Center for Discovery Fairfield’s residential program creates a structured environment that helps clients concentrate fully on recovery while minimizing outside pressures. Residents follow a weekly routine that includes set wake-up and bedtime schedules, household chores, and mealtimes, reinforcing responsibility and offering consistency day to day.
A range of evidence-based psychotherapy options is available, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), nutrition education, development of positive coping skills, relapse prevention strategies, and practical life skills. Yoga therapy is provided twice per week. On average, clients participate in five to six hours each day of individual, group, and family therapy, along with planned and supervised meals and organized social group activities. The location also offers free online support groups for people impacted by eating disorders.
Also confirm the facility is licensed by Connecticut. If you are withdrawing from alcohol or benzodiazepines, ask about medical detox; do not stop suddenly on your own.
Center for Discovery reports accepting Private insurance, TRICARE / VA, Self-pay. If you have Medicaid, ask whether the facility accepts your Connecticut Medicaid plan or can refer you to one that does. Most private plans must cover substance use treatment on terms comparable to other medical care under federal parity law.
