About Boulder Integrated Health

Boulder Integrated Health, based in lively Boulder, Colorado, provides partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), and outpatient (OP) services for individuals dealing with substance use disorders. The center focuses on delivering a full range of outpatient supports for addiction and co-occurring mental health challenges, using proven therapeutic methods including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR), along with experiential approaches and medication-assisted treatment (MAT).

At Boulder Integrated Health, each person works with a Case Management Team composed of a licensed therapist and a Certified Addictions Counselor. This team assists in identifying key areas of need in the client’s life and helps coordinate the assistance and resources most likely to support progress. The BIH team collaborates with clients and, when appropriate, their family members to develop a personalized treatment plan. Depending on the situation, the plan may include a referral to a higher level residential program, placement in an outpatient program, guidance for legal, career, or educational needs, suggestions for additional therapeutic services, or help connecting with a local recovery community.

Boulder Integrated Health also incorporates a variety of experiential therapies such as equine and animal-assisted therapy, yoga, acupuncture, art therapy, and music therapy. By combining evidence-based care with a holistic mindset, BIH blends traditional clinical treatment with complementary programming to support individualized outcomes for each patient.

The PHP level, also referred to as day treatment, can be a strong fit for clients who have completed residential care and need structured assistance while returning to everyday routines. This option is intended for individuals who do not require constant medical supervision and who are not at immediate risk for self-harm. Clients typically participate in 20 or more hours per week, making it the most intensive form of outpatient care. Participants return home or to a sober living setting each night.

Boulder Integrated Health’s IOP is designed for people who want sustained recovery support while still managing school, work, and family responsibilities. The program offers 10 or more hours of programming per week, with morning and afternoon schedules available. The IOP lasts 90 days, includes three group therapy meetings per week (each lasting about three hours), and provides at least one hour of individual therapy weekly.

The Outpatient Program at Boulder Integrated Health generally includes one to three sessions per week, each lasting 90 minutes. Appointment timing can be adjusted during the week to reflect changing needs. Services typically combine counseling and education, along with ongoing support to help clients maintain momentum in their recovery.
