About Young People In Recovery-Sacramento

Young People in Recovery (YPR) is a national nonprofit organization committed to helping young adults aged 18–24 build lasting recovery from substance use disorders. YPR empowers participants by combining advocacy, educational efforts, and peer-to-peer support, so that recovery options are both reachable and shaped to fit the specific needs of young people. The organization also works to reduce the stigma attached to addiction and recovery, encouraging communities where individuals can grow and succeed.

YPR provides a variety of programs, including peer-facilitated recovery support groups, life skills workshops, and community initiatives designed to prepare people for recovery. These services target important areas such as stable housing, education, and job readiness, offering practical tools and support to help young people rebuild their lives. With guidance rooted in shared experiences, YPR connects participants to mentors and allies, strengthening a network that promotes confidence, resilience, and independence.

A key difference is YPR’s dedication to advocacy and the development of recovery-friendly communities. Through collaboration with policymakers and other partners, YPR supports long-term, system-level changes that better serve people in recovery. Together with its peer-centered model of care, this comprehensive strategy makes YPR a powerful resource for young adults working toward recovery and a healthier future.
