The Bridges San Diego offers outpatient services for addiction treatment and for people dealing with co-occurring mental health concerns. Its partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient programs (IOP) provide research-based programming about addiction, along with individual and group counseling. Participants also work on relapse prevention planning, spiritual growth, self-esteem development, and education focused on physical health and overall wellbeing, including 12-Step facilitation. In addition, The Bridges provides both a Family Support Program and an Alumni Program designed to encourage long-term connection.
The Bridges San Diego’s PHP runs five days per week, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The program delivers structured, short-term, highly focused clinical care tailored to each person’s needs, serving as an alternative to inpatient or residential treatment. It includes evidence-based education about drugs and alcohol, group discussion and skills development to address depression, anxiety, trauma, and PTSD, as well as an orientation to the 12-Step recovery process.
The Bridges San Diego’s IOP helps clients understand the harmful outcomes tied to substance use disorders. The program offers guidance, healthier coping options, and a customized plan for action. The IOP meets three times weekly for three hours per day for at least six weeks, with both daytime and evening options available. It is designed for individuals who are stepping down from inpatient rehab, as well as those seeking treatment but unable to take extended time away from work and family or afford inpatient care.
The Chronic Relapse Program is designed for people who are returning to treatment after previous relapse and provides counseling in groups separate from first-time clients. The program includes individual and group sessions over 12 weeks, three days per week, and it is followed by continuing care maintenance for six months to one year after the initial phase.
The Bridges also offers a Family Support Program for loved ones who may experience anger, guilt, shame, or co-dependency due to a loved one’s addiction. This program supports participants in building a “tough love” approach for family members currently struggling with substance use. Family services include individual and group counseling for at least eight weeks, two days each week.
After program completion, patients remain engaged with the broader recovery community through weekly alumni recovery meetings and other sober events.
