About Evolve Teen Treatment Center

Evolve provides specialized treatment for adolescents and teens between 12 and 17 years old across multiple residential and outpatient programs in the Los Angeles, San Diego, and Bay Area regions. The center also offers an online outpatient option for clients in California, including both a partial hospitalization program (PHP) and an intensive outpatient program (IOP). These programs are designed around the individual needs of those dealing with mental health concerns, substance use, or co-occurring disorders.

The dual-diagnosis outpatient services are particularly appropriate for teens who need strong clinical support to remain stable but do not require 24/7 supervision. They may be struggling with suicidal thoughts, self-harm, or substance abuse that has disrupted daily life, though they do not need medical-level care. Programming focuses on practical, evidence-based treatment strategies tailored to each participant’s circumstances.

PHP uses a structured hybrid format that delivers a high level of care while allowing teens to continue living at home. Participants attend for about 6 hours each day, five days a week, along with multiple daily group therapy sessions. The program includes one individual psychiatry appointment and two individual therapy sessions weekly, plus one family therapy session and one multi-family therapy session.

IOP, sometimes referred to as an afterschool program, follows a comparable model with fewer treatment hours per week. At Evolve, IOP is intended to provide consistent support and structure without pulling teens away from school or other commitments. Teens work on coping skills and stability through individual and group therapy, along with educational workshops. IOP typically includes two psychiatry visits per month with medication management when needed, as well as one individual therapy session, one family session, and one multi-family therapy session each week.

Across both outpatient programs, Evolve delivers holistic, well-rounded care through trained and experienced staff within a structured treatment setting.

Evolve focuses on evidence-based approaches for mental health and addiction, including dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). The treatment program follows the established DBT framework created by its developer, and participants take part in a weekly 90-minute DBT skills training group. In addition to core evidence-based practices, experiential groups such as art or music therapy help teens develop healthy outlets for emotions.

For substance use and co-occurring concerns, additional services may include Seeking Safety, relapse prevention, anger management, meditation, and life skills training.

Family-focused therapy and family support groups are also available, helping relatives stay actively involved and work alongside treatment providers.

Evolve is accredited by Joint Commission and CARF and accepts most major insurance plans.
