About Mountain House Recovery

Mountain House provides a supportive launch point after treatment, offering young men in early recovery a meaningful path toward lasting change. The program unites adventure, camaraderie, and self-improvement. It pairs proven therapeutic care with complementary holistic approaches and high-energy outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, and rock climbing. Through shared time in nature and the building of strong relationships, Mountain House helps participants develop realistic strategies for a rewarding, sober future.

The journey is organized into three phases. Phase 1, Basecamp, establishes a strong foundation with individualized treatment planning, counseling, and life coaching. It also supports practical development through essential life skills, including money management and resume preparation. Residents strengthen their momentum through community service and monthly outdoor outings.

In Phase 2, Ascent, participants are encouraged to pursue work or attend school full-time, while continuing to stay connected to ongoing therapeutic support. This stage focuses on developing financial independence, personal discipline, and the confidence to meet life’s challenges while maintaining sobriety.

Phase 3, Summit, guides residents toward independent living. This transition may happen in Mountain House’s Summit House or through their own housing. The emphasis is on continuing to practice sobriety skills, applying what they’ve learned, and contributing to the recovery community as an active member. Support remains available as residents move forward with purpose and build on the progress they’ve earned.

Located in Flagstaff, Arizona, Mountain House benefits from an exceptional mix of natural scenery and outdoor recreation. Near the San Francisco Peaks and surrounded by national forests, Flagstaff offers recovery-friendly opportunities like hiking, mountain biking, and winter skiing.
