About Community Services Associates

Pauquette Center Madison provides outpatient care for children through older adults from 8AM to 5PM, Monday through Friday. The center is situated near Dane County Regional Airport and is within a short walk of a bus route. Pauquette Center delivers psychological evaluation and testing conducted by a licensed psychologist, as well as forensic assessment and treatment. Services include anger management, evaluation of disrupted personality patterns linked to criminal behavior, competency to stand trial, and related supports. The center also runs dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) groups across three age categories, plus a program that focuses on domestic violence and anger management for adult men. Pauquette Center accepts clients who are enrolled in Comprehensive Community Services (CCS) from Columbia, Sauk, Jefferson, Richland, and Walworth counties. Additionally, there is a clinician on staff who is fluent in American Sign Language (ASL), offering psychotherapy and addiction recovery services for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing and for their families.

The center also offers individual AODA counseling for people facing substance use challenges. Treatment emphasizes addiction, recovery skills, and strategies for preventing relapse. Clients work on identifying personal triggers and making lifestyle adjustments to improve long-term recovery outcomes. AODA counselors at Pauquette Center are licensed to address both AODA concerns and mental health needs.

Pauquette Center includes a parenting program that offers individual therapy, phone coaching, and group-based training. Counseling is available for parents whose mental health concerns make parenting especially difficult, along with consultation on parenting strategies that fit the family’s values and culture. Sessions focus on supporting consistency, strengthening healthy boundaries, and promoting care, affection, and nurturing. For children, the center provides psychotherapy services, including play therapy.

For group treatment, Pauquette Center offers a men’s program for those with a history of domestic violence and/or serious anger-related concerns. The group combines psychoeducation with discussion and skill work related to anger, violence, power and control, and building healthy relationships. It meets for one hour each week over 24 weeks and aligns with state requirements for offender intervention. The center also provides services for both men and women who have experienced domestic violence in their relationships.

DBT programming at Pauquette Center is adapted for adults, adolescents, and children. At the start of care, each person completes a one-hour screening before being matched to a clinician. After that, participants complete a DBT-focused intake and attend 3 to 5 pre-treatment sessions to learn the basics of DBT, understand program expectations, and prepare for full commitment. For adults (18+), the program includes two weekly one-hour group skills sessions and one weekly one-hour individual meeting with a DBT clinician. Participants also have access to phone coaching between sessions. For adolescents (13–18), the schedule includes two hours per week of group skills training and one weekly one-hour individual meeting with a DBT provider. Caregivers are expected to join all group and family sessions, and additional family sessions are provided as needed. Adolescents also receive phone coaching between appointments. The children’s program typically requires a higher level of caregiver involvement: caregivers learn foundational skills in validation, acceptance, and behavior change. Many families join a weekly one-hour parent training group and also meet individually with a DBT-C therapist. Once foundational skills are established, the child often begins weekly sessions as caregiver involvement continues.
