About Canopy Center Oasis Program

Located near the Dane County Regional Airport, the Oasis Program at the Canopy Center provides therapy in both individual and group formats, as well as family sessions, for people who have survived child sexual abuse and for their families. The Oasis Program is supported by the U.S. Department of Justice Office for Victims of Crime and by the Dane County Department of Human Services, and it offers services at no cost. The Canopy Center is also home to the Dane and Columbia County Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children (CASA) program and the Parent to Child program, which supports supervised visits.

Children and adolescents receive one-on-one treatment with a therapist who partners closely with their non-offending caregivers during sessions. Services may include trauma-informed approaches, play therapy, and sensory therapy. Youth also take part in age-based group therapy that incorporates trauma-focused work and play therapy tailored to the group’s age level. In addition, Oasis provides group therapy for non-offending parents and caregivers, offering practical guidance to help them care for and safeguard their children after sexual abuse. Therapists also help clients prepare for court and can attend hearings with family members when needed.

The Oasis Program additionally includes support for adult survivors of sexual abuse. This program is centered on understanding how childhood trauma affects people and on fostering healing. Group discussions address coping skills, emotional regulation, relationships, psychoeducation, self-esteem, and related topics. Participants are required to work with their own individual therapist, alongside participation in the free group.
