About Healing Lodge of the Seven Nations
The Healing Lodge of the Seven Nations is a rehabilitation center specifically tailored for Indigenous youth aged 13 to 17 who are dealing with substance use issues. With a rich history spanning over three decades, The Healing Lodge recognizes the nuanced challenges of addiction and approaches recovery with compassion and understanding. The facility holds both CARF and Joint Commission accreditations, ensuring high standards of care. Treatment plans are customized to each adolescent’s needs and typically last between 90 and 120 days. By emphasizing cultural and spiritual values, the center fosters an environment where young people can bond and engage with their own identities.
The program integrates evidence-based therapies aimed at aiding adolescents through their healing process. Comprehensive mental health and substance use counseling are readily available alongside medical services right on the premises. Various support services, including educational, musical, cultural, recreational, and nutritional programs, are integrated to enhance recovery and promote personal development. Trauma-informed care lies at the heart of the program, acknowledging the unique experiences of Native adolescents by honoring their cultural heritage and addressing both generational and intergenerational trauma. Beyond residential treatment, The Healing Lodge also offers an aftercare strategy designed for the family environment to which the youth will return. Outpatient services are available at the Family & Wellness Health Clinic on-site to support ongoing care.
Situated on a sprawling 51-acre campus in Spokane Valley, Washington, the facility features 45 beds arranged in gender-specific wings. Each bedroom offers a view, accommodates twin beds, and is complemented by bathrooms in each wing. Outdoor amenities include modern facilities like a full basketball court, a baseball diamond, and an obstacle course, alongside traditional elements that celebrate Native American heritage, including tipis, sweat lodges, and a Medicine Wheel.
