About Provo Canyon School

The Provo Campus supports young people ages 12 to 18 who are experiencing behavioral and mental health concerns. Care is designed in two phases: an initial period focused on stabilization and, when needed, a longer stay in a residential program. The center runs distinct tracks for middle school boys and for high school boys and girls. Students also participate in an accredited school schedule all year, with guidance from dedicated medical and psychiatric professionals.

Using an “Acuity Based Care” approach, the program evaluates each student’s abilities and needs to determine the appropriate level of treatment and to shift that level as progress is made. Services commonly include individual counseling, group therapy, family sessions, skill-based groups, recreational activities, medication management, and evidence-based support for substance use. Overall, the program aims to help teens develop emotional coping skills, strengthen social relationships, and establish healthier routines.

Residents stay in shared rooms, organized by age and gender. They attend school on campus, eat in the cafeteria, and use free time in spaces such as gyms, a pool, athletic fields, playgrounds, and ropes courses. Structured daily schedules and supervised off-site outings are also included to promote learning, growth, and recovery.
