Alta Loma Casa Esperanza
Georgetown, TX 78626
Spread across 20 acres of open countryside, Alta Loma The Ranch offers a structured and supportive setting where men can begin rebuilding their lives after mental health challenges and substance use issues. The property includes three residential homes plus one main building for clinical services and wellness programming. At Alta Loma, clients receive care for depression, anxiety and panic disorders, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, personality disorders, and psychosis.
Alta Loma’s approach is grounded in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), helping clients identify and reshape unhelpful thinking to strengthen self-worth, optimism, and more balanced views of the world. The Truthought program emphasizes consistent behavior change and practical strategies that support long-term recovery. Weekly programming includes at least two individual therapy sessions and at least one psychiatric appointment. Clients also build essential life skills, covering areas such as communication, self-awareness, adjusting thought patterns, understanding triggers, job readiness, and household skills. Process groups encourage clients to view recovery from fresh angles, develop empathy, and learn through psychoeducation. The center also supports participation in community-style recovery groups, including NAMI Connection and 12-Step meetings.
Alta Loma fills each day with a mix of evidence-based and holistic services delivered through individual and group formats. Weekdays typically start at 9:30 am with meditation. Life skills groups run from 10 am to 12 pm, followed by lunch. Process groups take place from 1 pm to 3 pm, with health and wellness activities scheduled from 3 pm to 5 pm. Evenings include recovery groups from 6 pm to 7 pm, plus free time and daily goal check-ins from 9:30 pm to 10 pm. Weekends include time for healthy hobbies and additional therapeutic programming, with process groups from 1 pm to 3 pm and recovery support groups from 6 pm to 7 pm.
Housing at Alta Loma includes the main residence for up to nine men, with five comfortable and well-equipped bedrooms. Men may choose private or semi-private accommodations. The cabins, the other two residential homes on site, accommodate six men each. A fourth on-site building includes a cafeteria and a modern gym. Amenities are designed to promote both comfort and activity, including a swimming pool, a stocked fishing pond, a half-mile fitness trail, a basketball court, and a field where miniature donkeys and goats can be found. Group therapy is often held outdoors in the shaded seating areas around the campus.
