About Next Door Inc
The Next Door was created by a group of women from First Baptist Church Nashville who sought direction on how to put a church-owned vacant space to good use. After learning more about the community’s needs, The Next Door identified transitional housing for women as a major gap, and soon the program began. Years later, The Next Door has grown into a comprehensive initiative that supports women facing hardship through services such as medically supervised detox, residential care, partial hospitalization (PHP), and intensive outpatient programming (IOP). The Next Door serves women and pregnant women who are affected by addiction, mental health challenges, trauma, and incarceration.
The mission of The Next Door is to help women regain stability by offering evidence-based treatment alongside 12-Step support, prayer, and meditation within a Christ-centered setting. Participants receive one-on-one counseling, group therapy sessions, skills-based education, case management, Rock to Recovery therapy, family counseling, and relapse prevention planning.
To expand its residential support, The Next Door acquired a multi-story office building and transformed it into a 20-bed facility. Residents stay in shared rooms with one other roommate in a warm, comfortable atmosphere. Once per week, residents may take part in supervised physical activity led by a fitness instructor at the nearby YMCA. During free time, women can go for walks around the building, and smoking is available in a designated area for those who choose to do so. Meals are provided cafeteria-style using nutritious ingredients. The Next Door is committed to empowering women and strengthening their recovery so they can build lasting, meaningful change.
