About Newport Academy
Newport Academy is a live-in treatment center for adolescents ages 12–18 who are dealing with mental health challenges, eating disorders, trauma, and substance misuse. Newport Academy focuses on helping teens build strength and supporting parents and families as they work toward recovery. Their program uses a blend of proven clinical methods and whole-person approaches, organized into four areas: clinical, experiential, spiritual, and academic. The center offers a wide selection of services such as body image group sessions, therapy designed specifically for boys and girls, 12-Step programming, treatment informed by Bowen’s family systems theory, equine therapy, music and art therapy, horticultural activities, culinary arts, and yoga.
Newport Academy’s gender-specific residential programs are designed to reflect the different needs of male and female teens. Each resident follows an individualized plan developed with input from a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, psychiatrists, family therapists, nurses, and a dietician. The center also involves families throughout treatment, encouraging parents to participate when appropriate. Family therapy and parent support are integrated alongside the teen’s care to reinforce progress at home.
Newport Academy St. Cloud is located near Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport, which makes arrival and travel more convenient. The campus sits on a peaceful property near the Mississippi River, giving residents privacy and an opportunity to step away from outside stressors. Teens typically share a bedroom with a roommate and use one private bathroom together. Each gender-specific home includes shared common spaces where teens can meet for group therapy, unwind, or connect with peers in a secure setting.
To help residents continue their education, Newport Academy provides tutoring and individualized schooling plans. Certified on-site teachers coordinate academic progress with therapeutic support, creating an environment where teens can learn and heal. Newport Academy in St. Cloud is accredited by The Joint Commission and is accepted by most private insurance providers.
