About The Living House

The Living House is a sober living program that uses a structured four-stage model, supported by recovery coaching, in a serene tropical setting. Created in 2012, The Living House was established to give residents the consistency they need for lasting recovery in a secure, alcohol- and drug-free environment, where they can learn to live responsibly and apply recovery skills in everyday life. As a pioneer program, The Living House follows a four-phased reintegration approach and is designed to serve a variety of clients while upholding strong standards. The four phases support individuals at different points in their recovery journey, and each stage includes clear expectations that residents must complete before advancing. Progress is reviewed weekly by the house manager and The Living House recovery coach.

At the start of the program, The Living House emphasizes building daily recovery routines. Residents work on key habits such as connecting with a 12-Step fellowship sponsor, attending morning meditation, joining counsellor-led focus groups, and going to 12-Step meetings. Standard expectations include waking by 8:00 A.M. from Monday to Friday, taking part in house meetings, fully engaging in work or study and actively researching opportunities, completing personal and shared responsibilities, and attending one-on-one private therapy sessions. These daily practices are designed to mirror real-life structure, helping ease the transition back into society.

The Living House is an exceptional facility located amid the green surroundings of Cape Town, South Africa, with stunning views of the Table Mountains. It is also close to Kirstenbosch Gardens, providing a wonderful backdrop for staying active and enjoying the natural environment. The premium property offers comfortable, high-quality living arrangements with private bedrooms and inviting communal areas, including a modern kitchen and dining space. Residents can also make use of a recreation room with facilities like a ping pong and pool table, along with an on-site swimming pool and generous garden areas ideal for relaxing in the sunshine.
