About 2nd Chance
Established in 2012 by three physicians, 2nd Chance’s central Kentucky clinic provides outpatient support for individuals dealing with addiction. Services include one-on-one and group counseling, appointments with a physician, and case management. The center also offers medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for eligible patients.
Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) involves regular medical visits where clinicians assess a patient’s condition and guide the treatment plan. MAT uses medications designed to reduce withdrawal discomfort and cravings commonly linked to addiction and chemical dependency. By addressing these symptoms, patients often find it easier to move into a recovery-focused lifestyle.
For many participants, individual therapy is paired with group counseling and medication-assisted treatment. Using several approaches together can improve the chances of sustained sobriety. Individual counseling gives patients a confidential space to talk through their personal challenges and needs.
Weekly group sessions cover themes such as relapse prevention, chemical dependency, parenting, domestic violence, anger management, and related topics. These meetings allow participants to learn from others experiencing similar struggles, including cravings and behavioral patterns, while also sharing their own perspectives.
2nd Chance case managers support patients throughout their care by coordinating and advocating for their needs during the recovery process. The team works with community organizations to connect patients with helpful services that can reduce barriers and strengthen their path forward.
