About Eating Recovery Center Northbrook

ERC Northbrook offers a comprehensive residential program aimed at helping children and adolescents of all genders recover from eating disorders, provided that they are medically stable. The center ensures continuous support around the clock, featuring ongoing observation along with medical and psychiatric supervision during daytime hours, delivered by a skilled team that specializes in eating disorders and related mental health issues. Personalized treatment plans incorporate therapy, educational support, medical assistance, and family participation, guiding patients toward achieving their best physical and mental well-being.

At ERC, patients participate in evidence-based therapeutic practices and learn vital recovery skills applicable to everyday life. Through individual, group, and family therapy sessions, they have the opportunity to discuss their most significant concerns, develop coping mechanisms, and gain insights from peers facing similar challenges. Registered dietitians provide structured and encouraging meal planning that focuses on maintaining balance, diversity, and adaptability.

Nestled in a welcoming community, ERC’s residential setting is designed to be a secure and nurturing space. Patients enjoy comfortable accommodations, and the child and adolescent units are thoughtfully tailored to be youth-friendly. A modern teaching kitchen offers practical experience in meal preparation and emotional self-regulation, while a welcoming café fosters mindful eating practices during meals. Patients can also access nearby apartments, which are available for those coming from out of state and needing lodging.

With day treatment and intensive outpatient programs available on-site, ERC Northbrook provides a step-down care approach that ensures consistent support throughout various stages of recovery. Their day programs are scheduled for 5 to 7 days per week, allowing patients to practice their skills in real-world environments. For additional flexibility, the intensive outpatient (IOP) program occurs three times a week, enabling individuals to maintain their schooling, employment, or family responsibilities while they receive therapy, nutritional guidance, and supported meals.
