About Teen Challenge Boise Girls Academy

Boise Girls Academy is a Christian residential program in Nampa, a little more than 20 miles from Boise, designed for girls ages 13–17 who are dealing with behavioral challenges. These concerns can include substance use, suicidal thoughts, self-injury, difficulties in school, and sexual risk-taking. Most participants stay in the program for about 15 months, though the length may be extended based on each girl’s needs. At the time of enrollment, the cost is $9,450, and this fee covers tuition, room and board, meals, activities, basic personal items such as toiletries, and the required uniform. Families can inquire before admission about scholarships and whether they qualify.

Faith-based guidance is a central part of life at Boise Girls Academy. Students take part in group spiritual sessions five days each week, have time for private reflection every day, attend church on Sundays, and experience discipleship through everyday interactions during the week. Daily routines also encourage connection, including meals prepared in a home-style setting with staff. The program emphasizes structured recreation and athletics, with activities both at the campus and through competition, such as volleyball against other schools. On-site facilities include a gym, a pickleball court, and a basketball court. Additional activities may include swimming, disc golf, hiking, and aerobics. Girls also complete assigned household responsibilities and receive coaching on how to carry them out. Practical life-skills training extends to caring for animals on the property, such as chickens, goats, a bunny, and a turkey, as well as supporting staff with meal preparation. Service opportunities are built in, including projects on campus and participation with local community groups, such as helping beautify the campus and serving nearby organizations.

For families, Boise Girls Academy provides parent weekends every other month, from Friday evening through Saturday evening, starting after the student has been enrolled for four months. Each girl is matched with a staff member who leads weekly group counseling sessions with other students and also meets regularly for individual counseling. This assigned staff member serves as the main contact for parents and helps them track progress. After graduation from the program, Boise Girls Academy offers an aftercare plan that typically lasts three to five months to support the student and her family.

The educational component of Boise Girls Academy is provided through Lighthouse Christian Academy and A.C.E. (Accelerated Christian Education). During their enrollment, students are dually enrolled in Lighthouse Christian Academy and Boise Girls Academy. The program is accredited by COGNIA, recognized by NCAA, and licensed by the state of Idaho.
