About Camillus House

Camillus House Overnight Shelter, situated on 7th Avenue close to downtown Miami and Jackson Memorial Hospital, provides emergency and extended accommodation for homeless adults who are living with mental health challenges, substance use issues, or trauma, including experiences of sexual abuse. With convenient access to public transportation, the center offers a secure, respectful environment for men and women to start rebuilding their lives.

Through a supportive housing approach, the shelter delivers both one-on-one and group counseling aimed at helping residents work through trauma, depression, anxiety, and substance use disorders. Individuals who have survived sexual abuse receive understanding support, along with connections to psychiatric resources when needed. These programs are designed to support emotional recovery, improve day-to-day stability, and encourage progress toward long-term wellbeing.

Beyond housing, residents are provided with meals, clothing, personal hygiene assistance, and help developing job readiness and essential life skills. The shelter also offers referrals to medical and legal services. With an open-door, low-barrier approach, Camillus House remains an important source of safety, dignity, and a new beginning for people in need.
