About Lifeskills South Florida
Lifeskills South Florida offers detox and residential services for adults dealing with substance use disorders, as well as complex co-occurring mental health or medical conditions. The center’s most intensive care model focuses on assessment, stabilization, and medically supported detox for people experiencing chronic or acute challenges such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder (BPD), major depression, and generalized anxiety. Clients receive treatment in a structured, encouraging setting with round-the-clock nursing support.
Care is delivered using Lifeskills’ Six Clinical Pathways, an approach built on evidence-based methods and customized by licensed clinicians or doctoral-level professionals. The pathways cover acute care, chemical dependency, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), programs for obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and metabolic fitness. Participants also join a variety of therapeutic groups and interventions, including acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), exposure and response prevention (ERP), meditation practices, and rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT).
Involving family is an essential element of the program. Licensed therapists provide individualized guidance for topics such as trauma, chronic illness, and family relationship challenges. The STEER program, which stands for Support, Training, Empowerment, Education, and Recovery, helps families move through the healing process through sessions available both in person and online. Lifeskills also emphasizes long-term support after discharge through its alumni program, fostering ongoing involvement through discharge planning, peer connection, and alumni activities.
