About Riverside County Substance Use Program
Across the Inland Empire, Riverside University Health System (RUHS) operates as a general health system that provides outpatient care for people experiencing mental health challenges. The organization is accredited by both the Joint Commission and CARF.
RUHS serves multiple life stages, including children, transitional age youth (16–25), adults in midlife, and older adults aged 60 and over. Each group receives programs designed to address their specific needs. A key focus is early support, reflected in initiatives such as Set-4-School for children ages 0–5, highlighting how important developmental assistance is at the earliest stages. RUHS also meets some clients where they are, including home visits for older adults. In addition, it offers dedicated services for pregnant and parenting women, as well as for individuals involved in the criminal justice system.
To improve access to care, RUHS provides interpretation services across its programs, including translation into American Sign Language (ASL). Children up to age 5 are allowed to attend treatment with a parent or guardian. All RUHS locations, including the Hemet Family Care Center, are wheelchair accessible.
RUHS follows a “whatever-it-takes” approach by offering individualized assistance. Support may include therapy, help with housing needs, and training in daily living skills to promote stability and sustained recovery. Treatment often includes medication support, multidimensional family therapy (MDFT), and coordination with primary care providers to tailor care for each person.
Clients can view their care records during and after treatment through the MyChart app.
