Athena House supports women and nonbinary adults in Sonoma County as they recover from substance use in a secure, compassionate environment. The center provides an intensive residential program lasting from 30 to 90 days, including 24/7 support and medically supervised detox. For families, parents may bring children with them, and many graduates go on to Hope Village, a nearby sober living option that offers longer-term housing.
At Athena House, care is trauma-informed and blends evidence-based treatment approaches with holistic practices. Participants take part in individual and group counseling, educational sessions about substance use, and relapse prevention planning. The program also focuses on practical life skills, mindfulness practices, and involvement in peer-led 12-Step meetings. The team includes staff with lived experience and collaborates with other community organizations to encourage family reconnection and healing.
The campus was completely rebuilt in 2023 and features a main residence with shared kitchens and common living areas. Peri House offers a welcoming studio setting for mothers with children under five. Residents can also access a private outdoor area, gardens, a fitness and yoga space, a pickleball court, and a children’s play area—designed to promote comfort, connection, and growth during recovery.
