About AKUA Strong - San Diego

AKUA Strong provides outpatient care for substance use issues, mental health challenges, and co-occurring disorders. The center combines psychotherapy, medication management, and holistic therapies to support patients on their path to stability and wellness. Services are available for adult men and women, and AKUA Strong also offers a specialized first responders track designed for firefighters, police officers, paramedics, military personnel, and other uniformed professionals.

At the Folsom Blvd location, AKUA Strong offers both day treatment (partial hospitalization) and an intensive outpatient program (IOP). Patients can participate in a range of group programs, including DBT, CBT, ACT, trauma-focused groups, and attachment-style groups. These groups use different evidence-based therapeutic approaches tailored to specific needs. The center also integrates holistic practices such as acupuncture, tai chi, mindfulness, and yoga. Care is trauma-informed throughout, and the goal is for each person to leave with practical strategies that support long-term recovery. AKUA Strong further includes a free alumni aftercare program with ongoing support meetings, peer support, and alumni events.
