Serving communities across the Inland Empire, Riverside University Health System (RUHS) is a full-service health system that offers care for mental health and substance use disorders through both residential and outpatient programs. RUHS is accredited by the Joint Commission and CARF.
The Riverside Neighborhood Health Center provides services for mental health concerns and substance use disorders, along with treatment for other medical needs. Outpatient services are available Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., and on weekends from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. In addition, RUHS provides express care on weekdays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and on weekends from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Programs are designed for children, transitional age youth (16–25), adults in midlife, and seniors 60 and older, with approaches tailored to each age group. RUHS focuses on early intervention, including support through Set-4-School for children ages 0–5, underscoring the importance of early developmental care. For some clients, RUHS may conduct home visits, particularly for older adults. There are also specialized services for pregnant and parenting women and for people involved in the criminal justice system.
To improve access, RUHS provides translation for all programs, including American Sign Language (ASL). Children may attend treatment with a parent or guardian up to age 5. All RUHS locations, including the Hemet Family Care Center, are wheelchair accessible.
RUHS follows a “whatever-it-takes” approach, delivering individualized assistance that may include therapy, help with housing, and training in daily living skills to support stability and lasting recovery. Treatment may include medication support, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), multidimensional family therapy (MDFT), and close coordination with primary care providers. Through the MyChart app, clients can view their care notes during and after services.
