About Akua Behavioral Health

AKUA provides residential care for people dealing with mental health conditions. At its 324 University Dr site, the center blends psychotherapy, medication management, and eastern-inspired holistic practices to support residents as they work toward improved mental well-being. Treatment is available for adult men through both one-on-one sessions and group formats.

In AKUA’s residential mental health program, residents may participate in evidence-based and experiential approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), music therapy (harp), and art therapy. The program also uses holistic methods such as acupuncture, tai chi, mindfulness, reiki, and yoga. Care is delivered in a trauma-informed manner, helping individuals gain practical coping strategies and life skills to support long-term recovery. AKUA further offers a no-cost alumni aftercare program, featuring ongoing support meetings, peer connection, and alumni events.

At 324 University Drive, adult men live in shared rooms with others also in recovery. The residence includes an on-site fitness area and laundry facilities, along with a large fenced backyard. A chef prepares nutritious meals each day, and residents have access to transportation services and 24/7 support throughout their stay with AKUA.
