About Evolve Teen Treatment Center

Evolve offers treatment designed specifically for adolescents who are struggling with substance use, serious mental health issues, and related co-occurring concerns. The Calabasas setting provides a complete range of services for teens ages 12–17, along with guidance for their families. Residential programs are intentionally small, with space for only six teens at a time to support a more individualized approach. Care is led by full-time, onsite psychiatrists who offer frequent clinical visits and are available around the clock.

Every teen at Evolve works with a personalized plan created around their needs. The program team includes psychiatrists, a clinical program director, primary therapists, counselors, a facility manager, and recovery coaches. Clinicians are trained in dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and use a structured four-part DBT curriculum to help teens recognize underlying motivations, navigate relationships, and build practical skills for managing intense emotions. In addition, Evolve incorporates evidence-based therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy. Mindfulness programming may also include mindful walking, mindful cooking, yoga, and meditation. Teens can also participate in experiential services including equine-assisted therapy, hiking, surf therapy, art therapy, psychodrama, and supervised social outings.

Evolve supports teens dealing with addiction and mental health conditions, including acute needs such as suicidality and self-harm. The center also addresses depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), personality disorders, psychotic disorders, eating-related difficulties, and gender dysphoria. Treatment typically includes weekly psychiatry appointments, three individual therapy sessions, two family therapy sessions, at least fifteen clinical groups each week, and additional experiential groups. A weekly virtual parent support group is also available for parents of current clients and program alumni.

To help teens remain engaged in their education, Evolve coordinates with teachers and dedicates time each day for homework. The facility includes a separate learning area with computers, desks, and books. Evolve provides a full continuum of care, including day treatment (or partial hospitalization) and after-school intensive outpatient programs (IOPs) through its outpatient locations. Teens may also access outpatient services virtually.
