Center for Discovery Beverly Hills delivers outpatient care for eating disorders to adolescents (10+) and adults of all genders. The center is situated in downtown Beverly Hills, offering views of the Hollywood Hills, and opened in July 2014. It provides several treatment formats, including partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), and virtual programming. Clinical services use trauma-sensitive and evidence-based approaches such as eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). Alongside structured therapy, clients can explore a healthier relationship with movement through yoga and other physical activities. The specialized binge eating disorder program, Path to Peace, is also available at this location.
At Center for Discovery, the philosophy is “connection over correction.” Patients are supported through welcoming community spaces designed to help people feel safe and understood while navigating bingeing and restrictive dieting patterns. Path to Peace focuses on the specific realities of binge eating and the harmful influence of diet culture. The program is trauma-informed and emphasizes inclusion and community, shame resilience, and weight-neutral care.
PHP is a level of mental health treatment that sits between residential and outpatient care. Center for Discovery offers PHP options for both adolescents and adults. The multidisciplinary team includes dietitians, psychiatrists, and counselors. Programming typically includes individual, family, and group therapy, along with medication management, nutrition guidance, and supervised meals. PHP runs 5 to 6 days per week, but participants return home each day, allowing them to benefit from the structure of residential care while practicing new skills as they prepare to transition back to daily life.
During treatment, patients receive one or two meals and snacks at the facility so staff can provide direct support, while other meals/snacks are taken at home. This setup helps patients practice the strategies they learn and apply them in real-world routines. Center for Discovery also offers free in-person eating disorder support groups each Thursday evening, along with free online support groups.
IOP is a step-down level of care that does not involve hospitalization, 24/7 monitoring, or overnight stays. It is often used after residential care or PHP. Individuals in IOP complete at least 9 hours of therapy weekly, arranged in 3-hour group and/or individual sessions held three to five evenings per week or on weekends, for 12 to 16 weeks. The aim is to return the majority of time and attention to life outside treatment while continuing to build skills through ongoing therapy. Meals during IOP are taken outside the program.
For those who need care at home, the virtual eating disorder treatment program was created to support patients in their own setting. People may have different reasons for being unable to attend in person, and Center for Discovery is committed to delivering high-quality treatment that meets patients where they are.
Center for Discovery is in-network with major insurance providers and offers complimentary benefit verification.
