About ATTIC Wausau

Located on Jackson Street in the historic East Towne area, ATTIC (Alternative To Traditional Incarceration of Citizens) serves adults who are involved in the state or federal justice system. The program collaborates with the courts to identify treatment paths that do not require incarceration. These options may include support for substance use and mental health, job training, community service, and help securing stable housing. The overall goal is to lower the likelihood of reoffending, strengthen public safety, and support clients in achieving lasting outcomes. ATTIC provides a range of services, such as assessments to match individuals with suitable alternatives, case management, electronic monitoring, drug and alcohol testing, and DUI/OWI court-related programs. Counseling includes both individual and group therapy, along with plans for community service participation. Treatment at this site follows an evidence-based model using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), moral reconation therapy (MRT), anger management, and programs focused on preventing domestic violence.
