About Newport Academy
Newport Academy’s outpatient program offers therapeutic care for teenagers ages 12–18 dealing with substance use, depression, anxiety, and challenging social situations. The outpatient services are designed not only for teens, but also for their families, including parent support groups and on-site family therapy. With an evidence-based, integrated model, Newport Academy helps teens build the foundation for the future ahead.
At Newport Academy, care is coordinated around the supports teens already have, strengthening them over time. Teens can receive academic assistance while staying connected to school, with help from tutors and peer connections that encourage growth. After school, participants travel to the Newport Academy Waukesha site for afternoon sessions featuring individual, group, and family therapy, along with experiential treatment options.
Life at Newport Academy also includes healing through outdoor activities and hands-on adventures. The Waukesha location includes spaces such as art and music studios, therapy rooms for both individuals and groups, and dedicated areas for mindfulness practices like yoga. Seasonal outings bring teens into nature for activities like hikes and canoe trips along a nearby river.
Newport Academy provides attachment-focused family therapy to support healing within relationships and to help parents become trusted partners in their teen’s recovery. Education about addiction and mental health is extended to the entire family. Teens also gain insight into the reasons behind behaviors through personalized therapy plans and comprehensive assessments, learning strategies for reducing exposure to triggers. At the Newport Academy Waukesha location, teens are welcomed into comfortable, private, and respectful spaces with a warm, calm environment.
