About Great Lakes Adult and Teen Challenge

Adult and Teen Challenge Great Lakes is a Christian discipleship program designed for women dealing with drug and alcohol addictions. The program uses a faith-centered curriculum and requires a 1-year commitment as participants progress through four stages of care: Recovery, Renewal, Restoration, and Transition. Adult and Teen Challenge aims to support healing in spiritual, emotional, and physical areas, while also providing guidance in social and educational skills to help women rebuild their lives after addiction. Because the center operates as a nonprofit, program costs are kept low. The ultimate goal is lasting recovery, regardless of the time needed.

Level 1 (14 weeks): Recovery Residents attend classes focused on identifying and changing harmful thinking patterns and beliefs, learning to recognize the needs they were trying to meet through substance use, and developing coping strategies to handle cravings.

Level 2 (12 weeks): Renewal Residents engage in the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual efforts required to address the deeper wounds that commonly contribute to addiction.

Level 3 (12 weeks): Restoration and Healing Residents work on discovering purpose and learning how to build a life that is free from substances. This phase strengthens the foundation for what comes next, helping residents recognize their individual strengths and abilities.

Level 4 (12 weeks): Transition Residents take concrete steps to apply what they’ve learned. During this stage, residents work on finding employment and housing, managing time and resources, and developing into leaders who give back to their community.
