About Newport Academy

Newport Academy’s Fairfax outpatient center provides therapeutic care for adolescents aged 12–18 who are struggling with depression, anxiety, and challenging social interactions. The outpatient program focuses not only on teens, but also on supporting the entire family. Parents are connected with nearby resources and support groups, and family therapy sessions are offered on site. By using an evidence-based, integrated treatment approach, Newport helps teens build skills for the future ahead.

The center strengthens teens’ existing support networks while also adding targeted clinical care. Participants receive academic assistance, including help with schoolwork through tutoring and a supportive peer environment that encourages collaboration. After school, teens attend sessions at the Fairfax location that may include individual, group, and family therapy, along with experiential treatment options designed to complement traditional therapy.

At Newport Academy, teens are also supported through the positive effects of outdoor activities and hands-on adventure. The Fairfax program brings individuals to the nearby Great Falls Park, with additional outdoor opportunities available at nearby nature areas. Activities such as hiking, rock climbing, and kayaking provide meaningful ways to reduce stress and build confidence.

Newport Academy offers attachment-based family therapy to help repair relationships and equip parents to be strong partners in their teen’s recovery. Mental health education is provided to the whole family, helping everyone better understand what’s happening and how to respond. Teens work with clinicians to explore the reasons behind difficult behaviors and learn practical strategies for managing triggers through individualized therapy and comprehensive assessments. Within a welcoming, comfortable setting, Newport Academy’s Fairfax center offers privacy, respect, and the support teens and families need.
