About Valley Mental Health Inc

Located close to the junction of Van Nuys Boulevard and the 101 Freeway in Los Angeles, this residential program provides support for unsheltered adults dealing with mental health issues, frequently alongside substance use. The center offers case management, counseling, and assistance with transitional housing, serving as an entry point for people who may be reluctant to pursue conventional mental health services.

The approach is low-barrier and focused on harm reduction, using evidence-based interventions. Participants can receive therapy, peer support, medication management, and practical skills training aimed at restoring stability. Programming is designed specifically for individuals facing homelessness and mental health challenges, with staff providing encouragement to build daily structure, handle benefits, and connect with community supports.

Safe Haven includes 25 transitional housing units for adults with mental health challenges and a history of long-term homelessness. Residents have access to ongoing therapy, peer support, coaching for independent living, and help with medications, while maintaining eligibility for permanent housing. An outreach team also works with clients in the community, helping them move from the streets toward safety, treatment, and sustainable self-sufficiency.
