About Positive Recovery Center The Woodlands

Positive Recovery Centers delivers comprehensive, individualized addiction treatment for adults, including those who have co-occurring disorders, across multiple sites in the greater Houston, Hill Country, and Dallas/Fort Worth regions. At its Woodlands location, the center provides a variety of outpatient options, including partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), supportive outpatient (SOP), and intensive outpatient virtual therapy.

The overall treatment pathway is structured to help clients steadily take on more personal responsibility while gradually reducing reliance on highly intensive, structured care. Throughout this process, ongoing support is provided to clients and their families.

The PHP at Positive Recovery Centers is the most structured outpatient level, offering strong accountability and a high level of clinical support. PHP is commonly used as a step between residential treatment and outpatient care, allowing participants to continue an intensive program while still being able to live at home or in a sober living environment. It is well suited for people transitioning out of residential treatment or for those pursuing sobriety who do not need 24/7 supervision and stabilization.

In the PHP program, clients attend at least 20 hours of structured programming each week, along with a weekly appointment with a physician who can provide medication management when needed. Treatment at Positive Recovery Centers centers on the evidence-based “positive recovery” curriculum, combined with other proven therapeutic approaches. Programming may also include recreational and hands-on activities, such as music and art appreciation, to support self-exploration, emotional expression, and personal growth.

The IOP at Positive Recovery Centers serves clients who are ready to return to work, school, or other responsibilities while still receiving active treatment. It offers flexibility through daytime, evening, and virtual scheduling. Typically, participants attend 9–12 hours of treatment, 3–4 days per week, for about 8 weeks total. The focus includes building coping and life skills, managing symptoms, relapse prevention, and strengthening a healthy support network.

Supportive outpatient programming (SOP) offers individual counseling in an outpatient setting, often during early recovery after completing PHP or IOP. This level of care gives clients a secure, structured space to reinforce positive choices and continue healing and development.

Positive Recovery Centers also emphasizes family involvement and aftercare support. Family-focused workshops help all relatives address their needs, encouraging constructive behavior changes and honest communication. Clients and family members may attend educational seminars, group therapy, and experiential activities designed to improve insight and promote growth.

Aftercare services include weekly group support meetings facilitated by licensed counselors. Ongoing aftercare can lower the risk of relapse, strengthen coping tools, improve communication and social skills, and encourage healthier daily habits. Depending on each person’s needs, aftercare may continue for weeks, months, or even years, and it may also include community-based recovery supports such as 12-step programs. Positive Recovery Centers can also provide monthly progress reports for employers or licensing boards when required.
