About Harris Center for Mental Health and

The Project for Assistance in Transition from Homelessness (PATH) supports adults experiencing homelessness who also live with mental health challenges and substance use disorders by offering both clinical and non-clinical help. The initiative links participants to outpatient mental health services through The Harris Center, where they can receive psychiatric evaluations, medication oversight, treatment for substance use, and help coordinating care. People can come in without an appointment every day, and referrals may originate from shelters, police, hospitals, and local community groups.

In addition to mental health services, PATH focuses on urgent day-to-day needs such as hot meals, access to showers, clothing, laundry support, computer use, and personal storage lockers. The center also performs outreach in the community to make sure individuals can access the assistance they need to stabilize and move forward in their recovery.

PATH is recognized for its whole-person model and for partnerships with organizations including the Coalition for the Homeless, Houston Food Bank, and Houston Recovery Center. Through these collaborations, clients can receive help with housing, legal support, applications for benefits, and additional resources for substance use recovery, enabling them to achieve long-term stability and greater independence without any cost to them.
