About First Step to Recovery

At First Step to Recovery (FSTR), the team has a deep knowledge of a wide range of mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, and other disorders that often appear alongside addiction and substance use issues in adults. FSTR uses a holistic model of care that combines the 12 Steps with modern therapeutic methods to support the person as a whole, not just the addiction itself. Treatment plans are developed individually, taking into account each client’s specific circumstances and needs.

FSTR also offers a telemedicine intensive outpatient program (IOP) for addiction recovery that delivers the same level of care while following requirements established by the Center for Disease Control, the State of Texas, and other health and safety regulations in place during the COVID-19 pandemic. Sessions can be arranged at convenient times and in a private setting, making the virtual format easier to integrate into daily life. Telemedicine helps reduce common obstacles to treatment, such as lack of transportation, travel limitations, and scheduling challenges between appointments. The program supports clients through an ongoing, dependable staff-to-client relationship, helping them stay connected to care and encouragement throughout recovery.
