About Groups Recover Together

Located only a short drive from the American Museum of Science and Energy, Groups Recover Together Oak Ridge provides outpatient services for opioid use disorder, with an emphasis on meeting the needs of underserved communities. Since 2014, the center has offered flexible office-based opioid treatment (OBOT) that blends medication-assisted treatment (MAT) with counseling delivered through both virtual and in-person formats. Hours run Monday through Thursday, with the center closed on Fridays and throughout the weekends.

Treatment is based on proven methods, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), and the matrix model. Together, these therapies help clients work through trauma, manage anger, and strengthen relapse prevention skills, supporting emotional balance and sustained recovery. Additional support includes substance use education, help with discharge planning, aftercare coordination, and sign language services for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.

The center uses FDA-approved Suboxone to ease withdrawal symptoms and lower cravings, along with weekly group therapy sessions. Clients are supported by a dedicated team of substance use counselors, recovery support specialists, and clinicians. Intake staff are available around the clock to address questions and help clients schedule appointments online at a time that works best for them.
