About Cumberland Heights

Cumberland Heights is a 12-step outpatient treatment program designed for adults dealing with alcohol and substance use disorders. The organization operates 15 outpatient locations throughout Tennessee, along with two 12-step immersion retreats and a residential program. Established in 1966, Cumberland Heights is a non-profit organization committed to delivering individualized support so each person receives the specific care they need.

Cumberland Heights incorporates evidence-based approaches to improve outcomes, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing (MI), medication-assisted treatment (MAT), and 12-step facilitation. In addition, clients can participate in experiential services to create a balanced recovery plan, such as adventure therapy, art therapy, relapse prevention, music therapy, recreational therapy, mindfulness and meditation, spiritual support, and yoga. Virtual care options are available through telehealth.

Cumberland Heights is the first addiction treatment center in Tennessee to receive certification from the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) and is widely recognized as a leader in the field. The program is also accredited by the Joint Commission. Cumberland Heights works with most major insurance plans and provides reasonable self-pay options, helping make treatment more accessible.
