Cumberland Heights is a 12-step outpatient program designed for adults dealing with alcohol and substance use disorders. The organization operates 15 outpatient locations throughout Tennessee, along with two 12-step immersion retreats and a residential treatment option. Established in 1966, Cumberland Heights is a non-profit provider focused on individualized support, helping each client receive the level and type of care needed for a successful recovery.
Cumberland Heights uses research-backed methods to improve outcomes. These include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing (MI), medication-assisted treatment (MAT), and 12-step facilitation. In addition, the center offers experiential therapies to support a more complete recovery process, such as adventure therapy, art therapy, relapse prevention, music therapy, recreational therapy, mindfulness and meditation, spiritual care, and yoga. Virtual or telehealth treatment is also available.
Cumberland Heights was the first addiction treatment center in Tennessee to receive certification from the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM), and it is widely recognized for excellence at the national level. The program is accredited by the Joint Commission as well. Cumberland Heights accepts many major insurance plans and provides affordable self-pay options. The Cookeville facility offers intensive outpatient services on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Also confirm the facility is licensed by Tennessee (this facility reports accreditation). If you are withdrawing from alcohol or benzodiazepines, ask about medical detox; do not stop suddenly on your own.
