About Council for Alcohol/DA Servs Inc
Located north of the Tennessee River, CADAS (Council for Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services) supports adults and teens aged 13–17 through medical detox, residential treatment, an intensive outpatient program (IOP), and transitional living. Services are built around evidence-based individual and group therapies, aimed at helping clients regain stability and move forward.
To make the transition back to everyday life easier, CADAS arranges transportation to outside appointments and connects clients with peer support resources.
A key component of CADAS’ approach is medication combined with counseling to lower cravings, particularly related to opioids and alcohol. The center can provide Buprenorphine, Suboxone, or Vivitrol.
Programming at CADAS follows scheduled sessions and continues for as long as it is needed. Residential care may be as short as 28 days, while the IOP, medication-assisted treatment, and aftercare programs can extend for up to a year. The IOP runs either Monday, Wednesday, and Friday in the morning from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., or Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday in the evening from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Aftercare groups meet on Tuesdays from 6 to 7 p.m. or Thursdays from 12 to 1 p.m. Medication-related services are scheduled at different points during the week.
CADAS also offers a 12-hour educational course that is held twice each month on Saturdays, including a Spanish-language option. Enrollment is open to people of all ages, and there is a special teen-focused program that addresses the dangers of driving under the influence. The course costs $125 for Tennessee residents and $200 for those from out of state.
For clients working toward independent living, CADAS provides three transitional housing options. The Oasis Halfway House operates on the main campus and offers group activities and therapy for clients from diverse backgrounds. Family Way supports women with small children and helps participants for up to two years in balancing family responsibilities and professional goals. Through a partnership with the Chattanooga Housing Authority, CADAS also provides low-income apartments during the early phase of recovery.
