About Cumberland Heights

Cumberland Heights is an outpatient treatment facility that follows a 12-step methodology, aimed at supporting adults dealing with alcohol and substance use challenges. With 15 outpatient locations spread throughout Tennessee, along with two dedicated 12-step immersion retreats and a residential treatment option, Cumberland Heights has been serving the community since 1966 as a non-profit organization committed to individualized care tailored to each client's specific requirements.

The center utilizes a variety of evidence-based approaches to enhance treatment outcomes. Techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing (MI), and medication-assisted treatment (MAT) are part of the program, alongside 12-step facilitation. To provide a comprehensive therapeutic experience, Cumberland Heights also incorporates experiential therapies, including adventure activities, art and music therapy, relapse prevention strategies, recreational therapy, mindfulness practices, spiritual support, and yoga. Additionally, telehealth options are offered for added convenience.

Cumberland Heights holds the distinction of being the first treatment center in Tennessee accredited by the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) and is recognized nationally for its excellence in addiction care. The facility is accredited by the Joint Commission and partners with most major insurance providers while offering competitive self-pay options to make treatment more accessible. The Cool Springs location provides adult intensive outpatient (IOP) services on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, with time slots from 9 a.m. to noon and 6 to 9 p.m., along with youth IOP during the same days from 4 to 7 p.m. A family program for adults takes place on Tuesdays from 6 to 9 p.m. and Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon, while Al-Anon meetings are available to everyone on Wednesdays from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
