About Lifeways

Lifeways Rapid City is dedicated to motivating young people to stay healthy and live free from substance use. The center provides prevention, intervention, and treatment services to help students move past addiction-related challenges. Their goal is to support youth in building a future without the weight of substance dependence. To reach this, Lifeways partners with schools and local communities, delivering help to more than 7,000 young people each year. Therapies and Assistance Lifeways offers a range of therapeutic services, such as one-on-one counseling, group programs, and family-centered support. The focus is on strengthening practical coping skills, promoting healthier decision-making, and using motivational interviewing (MI) to help youth recognize and reflect on the impact of their choices. Together, these approaches are intended to encourage durable recovery and guide young people toward positive strategies for handling stress and difficult situations. Safe Setting and Family Participation Lifeways provides a secure and encouraging space for youth, with support available both at schools and through the center’s main office. Programs are designed to work with a young person’s routine, including afterschool sessions and opportunities for family involvement. By coordinating efforts with schools and families, Lifeways helps ensure that each youth receives consistent, effective support for long-term recovery.
