About CHOR Youth and Family Services - Berks Campus

The Children’s Home of Reading (CHOR) Berks Campus provides mental health and behavioral services for children and adolescents from 5 to 18 years old. Situated close to the Reading Pagoda and reachable via public transportation, the program supports young people facing anxiety, depression, mood-related concerns, self-harm, and challenges at school or within their families. Care options extend from outpatient counseling to more intensive day-based treatment.

Using a trauma-informed model, CHOR Berks Campus develops individualized treatment plans for each child. Treatment may include one-on-one and group therapy, psychiatric assessments, and help with medication management. With these supports, youth learn to regulate difficult emotions, strengthen coping strategies, and foster healthier relationships, while remaining able to live at home and attend school.

The acute partial hospitalization program (APHP) offers a structured schedule of about six hours on weekdays, designed to prevent the need for inpatient care or to support a step-down from it. CHOR Day Academy assists students who have IEPs by providing customized instruction alongside therapy. By combining committed school partnerships with flexible levels of care, the center helps students and families move through transitions more smoothly.
