About Peniel D/A
Nestled among the quiet hills around Johnstown, Pennsylvania, Peniel Drug and Alcohol Treatment Center provides a calm, low-distraction setting for healing and reflection. As a long-term inpatient rehabilitation program, Peniel focuses on adult men and women who are dealing with long-standing substance use issues, using a blend of faith-centered support and organized behavioral programming. The campus is fully equipped to function like a self-contained community, with gender-specific living spaces as well as facilities such as a gymnasium, sanctuary, and vocational areas that help residents rebuild stability and direction.
The program lasts 13 months and is organized into an initial 30-day orientation followed by four advancing phases. Each phase is designed to strengthen emotional resilience, reinforce personal responsibility, and encourage spiritual growth. Treatment includes individual counseling, family therapy, vocational education, relapse prevention instruction, and aftercare preparation, all woven into everyday schedules. Residents follow structured routines with classes and practical activities that offer real work experience, helping them restore confidence and prepare for life after treatment.
At Peniel, recovery follows a Christian-based approach that encourages individuals to grow through faith, healing, and self-examination. Participants are encouraged to accept responsibility, depend on God, and learn guidance from the Bible. Instead of promising immediate results, the program emphasizes durable change by fostering trust, developing character, and supporting truthful, principled living. The goal extends beyond sobriety toward a renewed sense of purpose and integrity in daily life.
